Since beginning production in 1954, the General Motors assembly plant in Arlington, Texas has seen its fair share of memorable events and celebrations. But nothing like this.
On Wednesday, May 11, the plant’s longest-serving employee, Charley Hall, drove vehicle number nine million off the production line. That’s right folks, 9,000,000 GM vehicles have been produced at this plant over the past 57 years.
And they’re not done yet. Plant officials are expecting a couple million more vehicles to be produced here in the future.
The plant currently produces large SUVs for GMC, Cadillac, and Chevrolet brands, including the GMC Yukon, Cadillac Escalade, and Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, at an average rate of 1,140 vehicles per day.
So tell us, what’s your favorite GM SUV? And what are you looking forward to most for the future of GM vehicle production?
