Like many artists before and after them, Ed Labunski and Jim Hartzell’s work may not spark a top of mind response. Yet, when I say, “Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie,” you’re probably just waiting for me to end… the… sentence… with… “Chevrolet.” The iconic jingle that took the American airwaves by storm in 1974 is nearly as significant to American culture as the patrons mentioned.
In the years that I’ve been livin’
A lot of things have surely changed
A lot of things have come and gone
Some even came back again
Through all the many changes
Some things are for sure
And you know that mighty fine feeling makes me feel secure
Cause I love baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet
Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet
They go together in the good ole USA
Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet
So, why bring up the ad? Well, first off, it’s National Hot Dog Day! Second, like the phoenix, the commercial has returned! The ad is an homage to its predecessor while showcasing how the stars of the jingle are still shining bright in the United States today.
We even have the 2012 MLB Home Run Derby Champion Prince Fielder and 2011 American League Cy Young and MVP Justin Verlander on board.
So, go out and bring the jingle to life. Celebrate with some baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and, our personal favorite, Chevrolet. Let us know what the jingle means to you in the comments below.
